Mr. Pearl and I have had such good luck when it comes to finding vendors. My mom happens to work at a hospital, and a lot of the young nurses she works with have just gotten married or are in the process of getting married. SCORE ONE FOR US. This means that we have tons of referred vendors.
So it was my mom who suggested we use Sweet Perfections Bake Shoppe in Waukesha. I think that this was mostly for her own benefit, since she LOVES cheesecake and they have an amazing Cheese Torte, which is currently patent pending.
Again, as with most of our vendors this was the only cake place we looked at, and while we probably could have searched around for a better deal, the cake itself was more than worth it.
To Mr. Pearl and I we've always thought it was important that we have an immediate and complete sense of confidence in whatever vendor we're working with. And the owner of Sweet Perfections did just that when he told my lovely mother that no, my half-stolen cake idea was not going to be ugly. Oh and the cake you ask? Absolutely DELICIOUS. If I had to describe it in one way it would simply be YUM!
We were given tons of choices for the cake, and than another ton of choices for the frosting, and fillings. It's safe to say that at 8 am we were stuffed with cake and had already had our sugar fix for the day. Oh and who goes and eats copious amounts of cake first thing in the morning? THE PEARLS DO!
I knew the exact cake that I wanted when I bought my first wedding magazine, the 2009 issue of Real Simple: Weddings.

So now take this cake and use your imagination to make it taller and instead of yellow, a bright grass green. The shapes will also be less abstract and more lime-y. (Haven't you heard? Taking any word and adding a dash and a y to it, immediately makes for a great descriptive word)
It was awhile ago, back in August when we went for cakes, but if I remember right, the cake will have four tiers. Tow tiers of white with raspberry mousse, because we all agreed that it was amazingly fantastic, cheese torte, and chocolate with chocolate filling.
Go away Mr. Pearl if you happen to be reading this!
In addition, Sweet Perfections is going to be making a surprise grooms cake for Mr. Pearl, and while I have yet to actually sit down and plan it all out with them, I do know that it was be something Packers related...GO PACK GO (sorry, had to throw that in there! :))
sourceWe cannot wait to see our finished cakes. Mr. Pearl thinks I'm very strange but I told him that it is a possibility that I may even cry when I see it :P
Did you decide to go traditional or for something more unique when it came to the wedding cake?
